Wow, wow, wow. This from the person who refused to acknowledge the Colts won the Super Bowl: You have to love Yankee fans. Before Friday night's Yanks-Sox clash at Fenway, my buddy JackO left one of those taunting, "You don't want to pitch to A-Rod right now, you don't want this, just walk him every time!" messages. By the time the Sox had completed their sweep Sunday night, his cell phone had been mysteriously turned off. I had to leave my giggling, semi-euphoric, "Seriously, thanks for stopping by Fenway, that was great!" message on his voicemail. If he had any self-awareness, the lead on his story could have been written in February: You have to love Patriots fans. Before Sunday night's Super Bowl at Dolphin Stadium, my buddy Bill Simmons wrote one of those taunting, "Get ready to see the Manning Face" stories. By the time the Colts had demolished the Bears Sunday night, he had mysteriously stopped covering football. I had to leave my giggling, semi-euphoric, "Seriously, thanks for stopping by Page 2, that was great!" message on his voicemail. Thus ends the weekly Bill Simmons critique.
