The Chicago Tribune bought the Cubs for $21 million in 1981. Some predict the Cubs will be sold after the season for more than $1 billion. Not bad. "I think the selling price of the Cubs will set a record," said John Moag, founder of Moag & Co., an investment bank for the sports, media and entertainment industries. "Major League Baseball has become a viable enterprise. The sport is healthy and making money, and the Cubs are a premium franchise and a very desirable asset." I can swing about $5,000.
