Monday Morning Cubs Thises and Thats
Written by wrigleyville

Perusing Rotoworld early this morning, I found the Cubs tagged to several interesting names. Also interesting were the names of current Cubs who could become future non-Cubs.

The Rocky Mountain News seems to believe that the Cubs could be interested in Brian Fuentes, especially if they could get the likes of Ryan Theriot and/or Will Ohman in return. Needless to say, getting anything upright and breathing for Will Ohman is a moral victory.

Another name mentioned is Orioles 2B Brian Roberts. Remember Roberts' unbelievable season a few years back? I haven't heard much from him since. Names mentioned in return for Roberts include Corey Patterson's little bro, Felix Pie, Thunder Matt and Sean Marshall. Will somebody please explain to me what Sean Marshall did to draw Sweet Lou's evil eye?

We have all been following this guy with much ferver, as Hendry plans on giving Fukudome his sexiest bedroom eyes to lure him into Wrigley.

These are just thoughts, but interesting ones nonetheless. Considering my deep man crushes on Thunder Matt and Ryan Theriot, it slays me to hear that there is a chance they could be departing. However, I'm willing to put my personal feelings aside for the good of the team. Because that's the kind of guy I am.

UPDATE:

Feel free to add the unenticing Raul Ibanez to the list of craptastic craptacular (we love our readers) bologna the Cubs are persuing this winter. The Sun-Times cites Ibanez's reasonable contract as a point of interest. Yeah, 2 years and $11MM is way more enticing than Jock's contract, which was dealt to Detroit a few weeks ago. I'm in a current state of "scratching my head."

UPDATE, 2.0:

Since I got called out by the bossman in the comments section, I'll just rectify myself by mentioning that Maddog's Another Cubs Blog notes that the Cubs are interested in Orlando Hudson and Nick Swisher. I don't understand why all these second basemen keep getting named, when we have a perfectly good stubble-faced stud muffin there already. As for Swisher, I'd totally forget about Murton if Hendry could pull that off. Sorry, Thunder. Don't cry too hard.

Oh, thanks to Apex over in HJE!'s Shoutbox for cyber annunciating Fukudome's last name. It goes: fooKOOduhmay (say it fast). However, I like the dirty way because I'm silly and immature-ish.

UPDATE, 3.0:

From ESPN's Winter Meeting blog: It seems more and more likely that Erik Bedard will get dealt. Suitors are lining up for the ace left-hander.
Bedard would make a fine No. 2 starter. Or No. 1.
