The Philadelphia Inquirer - Wrigleyville's hometown newspaper - inserted this oddity into the AP story on the Pro Bowl rosters: (Sean) Taylor is the only player known to have made an all-star team posthumously in any sport other than hockey. Flyers goaltender Pelle Lindbergh was voted to the NHL All-Star Game in February 1986. He was killed in an auto accident in November 1985 after playing eight games that season for the Flyers, for whom he won the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goalie the previous season. The tortured structure of the first sentence made my head hurt. So, it has happened only in two of the four major sports? Is that the point? Or is the point that he's only the second player so honored? Why not say, "Taylor is believed to be just the second player in any sport to be named to an all-star team posthumously. Flyers goaltender..."
