Architecture Critic Peeved At Cubs

Uh oh. Now they've done it. The Tribune's architecture critic (now there's a job) is very, very cross with the Cubs for defacing two metal doors in the outfield wall of Wrigley Field. Visually, Wrigley's outfield wall is a single entity -- a naturalistic, gracefully curving edge of brown and green that is interrupted only by the three-digit numbers that reveal how far the wall is from home plate. Now the signs on the green doors are going to break it up. While the signs will be done in white letters on a green background, that quiet palette won't make them disappear. And so on. And on. And on. No word yet on how the home and garden editor feels about it. I have an idea. Maybe the Tribune company could fire their architecture critic to save some money and help pay Carlos Zambrano's salaray (maybe three pitches, but still).
