Larry Rothschild, attempting to talk about the Cubs starting rotation:
"The way I look it is I have to get these guys individually to their potential," Rothschild said. "And then, whatever that is, if it's the best staff in baseball … or if it's not, they're reaching their potential and you can't do any more than that. We go in spring to try to get them to the point where they're at their top performance to start the season. Whatever happens after that, I can't change that. That's dictated more by ability. But if they're pitching at their optimum level, that's what you want."
I've read it three times and now my head hurts. I think he's saying he wants them to pitch well, but he can't throw the ball for them. Or something like that.Labels: Chicago Cubs, Larry Rothschild
