So apparently Sean Marshall approached Rich Hill before today's game and said, "I can do you one better." Then, he took the mound and gave up seven runs in the first two innings. Despite the Cubs' comeback yesterday, Lou decided to concede today's game by sending Scott Eyre out there to pitch the third inning. This is the equivalent of having your garage on fire and deciding it's a perfect time to park a gasoline tanker inside. And now it's 9-2 Brewers in the third. With any luck, this will be Scott Eyre's last performance in a Cubs' uniform. The man's ERA can't even be shown without the use of scientific notation. Should Eyre still be with the Cubs next week, I am hereby declaring my intention to become an available free agent this season. My vital stats are about the same as Eyre and I would have the same propsensity to give up runs. However, I am three years younger and would be willing to work for less money. Scott is making $4 million this year, I would be willing to pitch for just $1 million. So Jim, if you're reading this, call me. And if it helps move things along, I'd be willing to play left field as well.
