Paging Michael Scott... In a story comparing the Cubs to a "gritty ice cream treat," Vicki Estes writes, "But you ask anyway because this is the last day this season the ice cream truck will peddle its creamy goodness." I was told to stay away from the ice cream man peddling his creamy goodness. And later: "You nearly pass out as your dad hands you money. "Tha, tha, thaaaank you" is all you can muster from your trembling lips because you still wonder why your parents said "yes" when the gross peas remained untouched." Not exactly porn. But not exactly not, either. And later: "Out of breath and sweating profusely, you find the ice cream man, who by the way is a woman, and scramble to get a place in line. When it's finally your turn to order, you ask for a drumstick with a "Please" and a smile and hand over your dad's hard-earned money." And later: "You unwrap the frozen deliciousness and anticipate the delectable first bite. Your mouth lunges toward the luscious chocolate-covered vanilla ice cream. Just then, the ice cream dislodges from the sugar cone and reels toward the ground landing on the road near the curb." I feel dirty having just read this story.
