Soriano's Bunny-Hop: Please Explain

I've recently noticed that Alfonso is doing some type of bunny-hop as he's catching pop-ups. Surely, others have noticed it too. Did he just start doing this, or have I just been closing my eyes on any ball hit to left field this season? This strikes me as some sort of quirk that people are going to think is cute and harmless, but then he'll do it during some critical game in the playoffs and drop the ball, leading to a big inning and a Cubs collapse. Can't someone nip this in the bud and tell him to quit it? It's bad enough that no Major Leaguers use two hands to catch the ball, now we have our left fielder trying to incorporate interpretive dance into routine catches.
