The Baltimore Orioles, of all teams, were in first place going into tonight's game against Tampa Bay.

Given that, Camden Yards must have been packed - especially since Baltimore is a "great baseball town," as we're constantly reminded.

Checking the box score, however, the official scorer claimed there were just 11,944 people in the park. That's 24.8 percent full against the second-place Rays with some of the most exciting young players in the league.

That can't be. They have an All-Star second baseman, as Orioles fans like to tell us. They have the best park in baseball, as Orioles fans like to tell us. They have the future president of Venezuela, wherever that is.

Tuesday night's attendance? 11,588 (24 percent full), after the Orioles hadn't played a home game in nine days.

Meanwhile at Wrigley, 40,000-plus were in attendance, including this one.

The point, you ask? None, other than Peter Angelos and the Baltimore Orioles are a joke. Free Brian Roberts.
