Let's return to Around The Blogs, which we have been neglecting because we had done Around The Blogs for most of the teams the Cubs have played recently. But not the Nationals! So away we go: Half Street Blues notices that Nationals management has backed away from the much ballyhooed plan - or The Plan. Whatever they're doing, it doesn't make much sense to lose your first-round draft pick over a $700,000 dispute. Nationals Enquirer (which I believe to be a play on works involving the National Enquirer) says "no, thank you" to another player named Willy, no matter how he spells it. Here's a whole blog dedicated to the Racing Presidents. Really. Finally, Fire Jim Bowden has an insightful scouting report on the Cubs, other than this statement: "If you see (Marquis) on the mound in the playoffs, expect to see the Brewers in the WS." Actually, if you see Marquis on the mound in the playoffs, the game is a blowout one way or the other. So the Brewers need not print World Series tickets just yet.
