Morrissey: Cubs Need To Get Mean (And Crazy)

Rick Morrissey says the Cubs need to get meaner - and that means signing Milton Bradley and Randy Johnson. He says this about Bradley: Bradley is a switch-hitter, so he fits the Cubs' need for a left-handed bat. He can play all three outfield spots, can hit for power and has been known to be completely unpredictable. Given the club's glee-club image, that unpredictability is exactly what the psychiatrist ordered for the Cubs. During a game last season, Bradley ran out of the Rangers' clubhouse and up four flights of stairs to confront Royals TV announcer Ryan Lefebvre for what he considered derogatory remarks. The Rangers' general manager and manager intercepted him before his hands could get to Lefebvre's neck. According to reports, Bradley then went back to the Texas clubhouse, screamed at his teammates and began crying. "I'm tired of people bringing me down," he shouted at his fellow Rangers. "It wears on you. I love you guys, all you guys. I'm strong, but I'm not that strong. All I want to do is play baseball and make a better life for my kid than I had." At least he cares.
