October kinda sucked. (The full WV23 Year In Review can be found here.) October 1: Sarge doesn't feel good about the Cubs-Dodgers series. October 1: WV23 tries something new with "Your View Of The Cubs." It works, but lasts a very, very short time. Here are some of the views. October 2: The night before, Cubs dug themselves a hole in Game 1. October 2: Is panic setting in? October 2: WV23 is so disgusted by Game 2 that the live blog lasts just two innings. October 2: Losing is a disease. October 3: WV23 provides a little advice for the Cubs. Either it is not followed or it did not help. October 3: Lou has seen enough out of Mr. Fukudome. October 3: Dayn Perry inexplicably blames Carlos Zambrano for the Game 2 debacle. He was not playing every infield position, Dayn. October 5: Looking back, 2008 was just the third most disappointing postseason for WV. October 5: In defense of Alfonso Soriano. October 6: In defense of Sammy Sosa. October 7: The Pirates apparently are the biggest losers in sports. October 8: Carlos Marmol was in a car accident, which wouldn't have happened if the Cubs had bothered to win some playoff games. October 8: Why most Cubs fans are assholes. October 8: The Cubs are compared unfavorably with the Brush Beetdiggers softball team. October 9: Doug Melvin keeps comparing the Brewers to the Cubs, missing the point entirely. October 9: Dusty Baker is managing 9- and 10-year-olds. One required career-ending surgery Nov. 20. October 14: Steve Bartman revisited. October 15: The first "Cubs Rumor Mill: Jake Peavy" appears at WV23. All of them can be found here. October 16: Mike Downey, world-class ass. October 17: Bill Conlin says Chase Utley isn't very good, at least compared to Mickey Morandini. This drew as much traffic as any post all year. October 17: Bill Ayers is a Cubs fan. And a terrorist. Mostly a terrorist. October 18: TBS can't bother to get the start of Game 6 of the ALCS on. It was an especially hilarious episode of The Steve Harvey Show, however. October 20: The Cubs apparently have two of the best nine second basemen in baseball. Yet, some still pine for Brian Roberts. Odd. October 21: A foreshadowing of the Brewers not getting the Yankees' first-round pick. October 22: Mark Prior is making plans for 2009. October 22: WV23 does some detective work to show the Huffington Post had smeared the Cubs with Bill Ayers (ew!). The author quickly corrects his error. October 23: Scott Eyre claims he had "only one bad game" for the Cubs. We identify 12 in about 10 minutes, and Lou says of Eyre: "I happen to like him a lot. I mean, I did dislike him as a pitcher." October 24: Bud Selig tries to kill a baseball fan. October 25: WV notices sportswriters noticing Jamie Moyer is old. October 25: Phil Rogers - who is wrong about everything - advises the Milwaukee Brewers to hire Bob Brenly. October 25: WV23 writes tomorrow's headlines today for the World Series. October 29: WV23 teaches novice bloggers how to blog about baseball. October 29: The Phillies, of all teams, win the World Series. October 31: A columnist says the Cubs run too slowly while leading the league in runs.
