The Daily Yomiuri (I read it every day, don't you?) notes that Fukudome doesn't have to work that hard in the United States. MESA, Ariz.--New teammates. Shorter practice. A different format. Kosuke Fukudome is loving his first spring training in the major leagues. "I'm doing things I haven't done before, it's fun," Fukudome said after his first day with the Chicago Cubs here Tuesday. Unlike in Japan, where one batter might take cuts in the batting cage for 15 minutes, major leaguers rotate in groups of four or five, hitting just five or so pitches each. Fukudome took just 42 cuts. "I have to adjust to everything," Fukudome said. The practice lasted about three hours, half of a normal day in Japan. And that's the whole story. 100 words - 15 to 20 percent of a normal story in America.
