Gammons Likes Cookie-Cutter, Humorless Team Blogs
Written by wrigleyville

Via MLB Trade Rumors, here is a list of Peter Gammons' favorite blogs: Buster Olney's blog, Baseball Musings, Baseball Prospectus, MLB Trade Rumors, The Hardball Times, Baseball America, Boston Sports Media Watch, Baseball Think Factory, The Baseball Analysts, Squawking Baseball, Sabernomics, Beyond the Box Score, Dan Agonistes, Minor League Ball, Deadspin, U.S.S. Mariner, Fire Brand of the American League, Ducksnorts, Athletics Nation, Viva El Birdos, Lone Star Ball, River Ave. Blues, MetsBlog, FishStripes, Dodger Thoughts, Bronx Banter, LoHud Yankees Blog, Reds Reporter, Bleed Cubbie Blue, Brew Crew Ball, Baseball's Steroid Era. MLBTR and Deadspin I read and enjoy. Same with Olney, but he's a real reporter working for the Worldwide Leader. That's not what I object to here. Looking at the team blog lists, do you notice anything? By and large, they all look, read and feel the same - in other words, just like Bleed Cubbie Blue (the Yankees and Dodgers blogs, and a few others, being the exception here). Which is fine, if that is what you go for - but I read four or five Cubs blogs every day, and Bleed Cubbie Blue has never been one of them. Why? Nothing against BCB, as it is very popular. But it is hard to read. People take themselves waaaayyy too seriously. And it looks just like every other major team blog out there. I already get that - from the New York Times, Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times. (That said, if Wrigleyville23 were on Peter Gammons' list of favorite baseball blogs, we should all be very worried).
