Would You Spend $21 Million To Make The Playoffs?

Chuckie Hacks is once again comparing and contrasting the Cubs and the Brewers, this time comparing the Chris Capuano and Jason Marquis signings (thought not overly thrilled with the Capuano deal, to be fair)*.
Left unsaid, however, are these four key facts:
1. The Cubs went to the playoffs in 2007, and the Brewers did not.
2. In Marquis' two starts against the Brewers, the Cubs were 2-0 (Jason was 1-0, giving up two earned runs in 12.1 innings).
3. The Cubs beat the Brewers in the Central by two games.
4. Ned Yost is still the manager of the Brewers.
Therefore, using foolproof logic, that is $7 million (of play money) - not to mention $21 million - well spent, I'd say.
* The Wrigleyville23 position on the Marquis signing continues to be: Who cares? It's not my money. Though we do appreciate the concern of fans from a team that hasn't been to the playoffs since I was 11 years old.
