Grown-Ups Just Don't Understand

Far be it from me to like anything Boston-related, but I had to post about this. To recap the story, two yutes (two youths?) decided it would be quite the novel idea to build a mock-Fenway Park in a bushed-over field in their neighborhood so that they'd have an everyday place to play whiffle ball.

I understand the town officials' concerns, but these kids decided to do something with their summer that didn't include "trampling on old man Wilson's flowers" or rotting away in their basements playing World of Warcraft until 3 a.m. and they get the business for it?

Being on the latter end of my 20's, I'm not too far removed from the glory days of whiffle ball in 100+ degree heat. Look, if these kids are out of mishief and are actually being active members of society, why not just let them be? Surely old people were kids once. I'm pretty sure that's an accurate statement.

The point is, I can appreciate a little creativity and ingenuity. Granted, the kids could have consulted some folks on their plans, but why not take pride in what they did? Property values? Pfffttt. Drainage? That field looked pretty flat to me. Usurping greenspace? Um...the wall was green. Anyway, thumbs up kids...some simpleton in Loozeeanna appreciates your work.
