I Miss Brewers Fans
Written by wrigleyville

Since the Cubs haven't played the Brewers in a long time, I thought we would take the off day to look back at some of the insight we've been missing from our friends from up north the last few weeks - and give us something to look forward to when Milwaukee fans make their way back over.*

I started thinking about these comments on Saturday after the power-mad bosses at Brew Crew Ball banned Cubs fans after two or three comments, none of which were particularly hostile. Banning makes me sad.

Anyway, these are actual comments from actual readers - none of whom would ever be banned for visiting. Because we believe in America. And cheese curds. And we find them kinda cute, in a Henery Hawk sort of way.

kpanz, 4/1/08: "Why Marmol isn't the closer for the cubs is absolutely beyond me. He is by far the best reliever on the squad. But then again Piniella is so wise isn't he?"

This, presumably, is why kpanz wasn't named manager of the Cubs before the 2007 season.

zeek, 4/1/08: "A club that has been around for 100yrs. with nothing to show for it-- that's the definition of irrelevant."

Um, nope. It may be an example of irrelevance, but it is not the actual definition of irrelevant. See? irrelevant - not relevant; not applicable or pertinent:

Oak Creek Anonymous, 4/2/08: "Brewers 2-0; Cubs 0-2. Brewers fans are not taking this as anything more than 2 games. Unlike you Cubs fans. Sorry hayseeds, but the truth hurts."

Yes, we're still smarting over that zinger.

Oak Creek Anonymous, 4/4/08: "How are the Cubs doing this year? How is Prince doing this year? How are the Brewers doing this year? Now STFU ladies."

In order of your queries: The Cubs are doing fine, thank you for asking. Not as well as in previous years. Not bad, but not great. And we still don't have any ladies on staff, though IAN is in charge of finding us an intern.

zeek, 4/9/2008, taking things very personally when we call Prince Fielder fat (again): "Soooooooo (sic), what's your point??"

The point, as always, was that Prince Fielder is fat.

* Not including Matt, Brad and Goldy, who stop by regularly and politely.
