Joe Morgan Wrestles With Logic, Facts

Fresh off of lying about Ernie Banks, Joe Morgan manages to make a valid point but then immediately undermines it with general boobery and buffoonery:

Phillips’ ESPN colleague, Joe Morgan, was asked about the Boston Red Sox and Cubs having seven players in the All-Star Game. Morgan made his comments before Holliday replaced Soriano.

“In the case of the Cubs, I think it’s more of a popularity deal,” Morgan said. “If I’m a player, I don’t like that. . . . The Red Sox deserve this because they are world champions. The Cubs are not world champions.

“From a player’s perspective, I don’t like the fact that the Cubs got more than anybody else. I understand why the Red Sox did.”

However, Morgan says he considers the Cubs the best team in the NL.

So, Joe, I have some questions:

1. You figured out all by yourself that an enterprise that involves voting by fans is "more of a popularity deal"? That's why you're the lead analyst on the biggest sports network in the world.

2. Please name the seven Cubs selected to the All-Star game. OK, four? Three?

3. Who doesn't belong? That would have been a much more valid argument, other than "The Cubs are not world champions." We have our own ideas on two who shouldn't have been selected.

4. What is an acceptable number of All Stars for a non-world championship team? Six? Five? Four? Please elaborate.
