Philly Inquirer Writer Reads Rick Reilly, Closely

There are some remarkable similarities between a Wednesday ESPN.com story and a Philly Inquirer baseball column blurb on Thursday.

Rick Reilly, in a story posted at ESPN.com, about people stealing keepsakes from Yankee Stadium:

"This might turn into a pickpocket convention: armrests, pieces of façade, maybe even turnstiles will go missing. ... Will Jeter take the Babe Ruth monument? ... Jeter says the thing he's taking is "bigger than a breadbox." The mind swims. Thurman Munson's empty locker? ... with its 50 soulless luxury boxes and its 416 "party suites" and all the quiet they'll bring ..."

Rick O'Brien of the Philly Inquirer, in a - um - similar story, Thursday under the appropriately titled "theft alert":

With Yankee Stadium soon to be imploded, Low&Outside wonders how crazy people will try to acquire keepsakes of the historic cathedral.

Talk of potential thefts heightens with each day. What could be in jeopardy? Seats, turnstiles, empty lockers, the Babe Ruth monument. You name it.

What should be kept by fans are the memories of the players gone by and the classic games. The new Yankee Stadium, with countless luxury boxes and "party suites," will have nowhere near the charm.

If you're going to steal, why in the world would it be from Rick Reilly?
