Can We Throw This A Little Farther Back?

This "Throwback Day" the Cubs are running has at least two flaws, to put it charitably:

1. They only threw it back to 1948. The Cubs were 64-90 in 1948.

2. WGN is airing the first two innings in black and white with painfully limited camera angles, and the Cubs are trying to convince me this is a good thing.

The game should be a treat for TV viewers, who can watch the first two innings in black and white with fewer camera angles. The telecast will try to go without a center-field camera and use basic graphics at the start, and then add a camera or another technical advancement as the game progresses.

Look, wearing the baggy uniforms is all well and good. I'd much rather see Ryan Theriot and Co. in loosely fitting pants.

But when you start tinkering with my baseball viewing experience, we are going to have a few cross words. If I wanted to watch a baseball game in 1948, I would go sit on my grandmother's davenport in South Bend and pretend she doesn't have the volume turned to 11.
