Advice Column Question Of The Week

Or: Whatever happened to Bob Tewksbury? Dear Babe: I have a signed Bob Tewksbury baseball, which I received in the early 1990s. I’ve lost track of him and wonder if he ever became a well-known player. Is my base ball worth keeping? Karen Demers, Wilton, N.H. Babe: Tewksbury, a Concord, N.H. native, had a more than commendable 13-year career from 1986 through 1998. He compiled a 110-102 record with six clubs — the Yankees, Cubs, Cardinals, Padres, Rangers and Twins. His best run was with the Cardinals from late 1989 through 1994. He was 67-46 for the Cards over that span. His signed baseball is probably worth $15-$30. Not everyone has a baseball signed by a Major Leaguer, so it’s probably worth keeping as a conversation piece if nothing else. And that undoubtedly would be a fascinating conversation - about Bob Tewksbury, of all people, involving someone who doesn't know anything about him. Sell, Karen. Sell.
