Don't Let Facts Get In Way Of Partisanship
Written by wrigleyville

It helps to get your facts right when you're criticizing someone for being "brainless," a standard someone named Steve Young falls well short of today: In what has to be the most brainless moves in political and sports history - other than Texas Ranger managing partner, George Bush trading Sammy Sosa to the Chicago Cubs for Harold Baines - National Hockey League Philadelphia Flyers owner, Ed Snider is bringing in Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Sarah Palin to drop the ceremonial first puck at the Flyers home opener Saturday night. 1. George Bush did not trade Sammy Sosa to the Cubs. 2. Harold Baines never played for the Cubs. 2a. What's with the random commas separating titles from names? Someone calling someone "brainless" should know how to use a comma. 3. What's wrong with Gov. Palin dropping the first puck, other than the fact that it drives a certain segment of the population into a sputtering rage? Undoubtedly, people will boo, because that's what fans in Philly do and certain members of the other party simply can't be polite. I, for one, would have no problem with Sen. Obama or Sen. Biden dropping the first puck at a Flyers game - or throwing the first pitch out at a playoff game. In fact, John Kerry did so at a Red Sox game in the middle of the 2004 campaign and then sat in the front row at Fenway, appearing on national television (ESPN) twice an inning. The horror! Young is far from alone in going batshit nuts over this. What is it with these people that sends them into such a state?
