Mayor Daley, Quashing Fun All Over The City
Written by wrigleyville
Monday, 29 September 2008
Wrigleyville (no relation) bar owners cave to Mayor Daley's request to stop serving alcohol late in games - but only in would-be clincher games. The city says it's "voluntary," but those doing the "volunteering" don't seem so sure: Billy Lawless, owner of the Irish Oak, 3511 N. Clark St., emerged from the meeting with city officials and said of the pact: "I'm not happy with it." "We are well capable of handling our own business," he said. "You say it's voluntarily, but, c'mon, it's a directive from the city." Next up, the mayor is going to bar dealers around Comiskey from selling crack after the eighth inning. Then he can get back to taxing water and banning any food that tastes good. Oh, and mayor, I think there's a guy over on Western Avenue having a good time tonight. You better put a stop to that and pronto.
