Three Quarters Of "News" Is "New"

But don't tell that to the Chicago Sun-Times, which published this in its Sunday paper: With rumors circulating to the point he no longer could ignore them, Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker tackled them head-on. Speculation pointed to a relationship between Baker's 28-year-old daughter, Natosha, and Reds outfielder Corey Patterson. Baker felt pressed to address the rumors after he was questioned about the topic by Houston Astros players. Some rumors had Natosha Baker engaged to Patterson, a player Dusty Baker has been accused of favoring since their days together with the Cubs. Baker insisted his daughter is not dating Patterson. ''She hasn't even been to Cincinnati,'' Baker told reporters. ''This is so far out of line. It's hurtful to my wife and daughter. How can people stoop that low? I don't know who started it, but I've been hearing from fans, players, announcers. There's been a lot of gossip about me, but this is the worst.'' Great, but it was published thousands of other places earlier in the week - even WV23 three days ago. Baseball writers have always trolled the wires for filler for their Sunday columns so they can pretend they wrote the pieces themselves. But Al Gore's InterWeb makes that practice a little dated, don't you think?
