Morning Wood
Yesterday: 1.0 IP, 1 K, 0 R, 0 H, and a save. 97 mph fastball. 85 mph curve. 88 mph slider. Suck on that, National League.

Looks like a closer to me. . .
And a sexy man beast.
Ever think you might be jinxing things?
Nah. I'm just really geeked that he's back and he'll really be able to contribute this year. Kerry's been one of my favorite Cubs for a long time. I'm glad to see him back in uniform and eating puppies again.
It's impossible to jinx things. Kerry's strength is coming from his goatee. The longer it gets, the harder he throws.
Ah...good ole logic.
I've always liked Wood as much as the next guy, but I'm still very, very afraid. I'm afraid mostly because he just magically got better last season right before he was about to go under the knife. A decision that probably would have ended his career.
a) something was terribly wrong
b) it magically healed
a + b scares me. A lot. It just doesn't add up. Whatever was wrong is still wrong. Things just don't magically get better.
That being said, if he can somehow stay healthy, which is about like me saying "if I can somehow win the lottery," I think he'll be a pretty good closer, but not among the best. he'll be better than Dempster, but then again, who wouldn't be? I think we're looking at a 3.5ish ERA pitcher in relief. That's fine and dandy as far as I'm concerned.
I'm much more concerned about Howry and Marmol. Marmol's arm slot is lower and the Cubs have been working with him constantly and it's not improving. He's likely hiding an injury.
Toby? I hate so much the things that you are.
I'm officially convinced you have jinxed him.
When something bad happens, you shall be publicly shamed. And shunned.
