Lay Off Dusty, Would You?
Written by wrigleyville

The same Cub fan mentality that still blames Steve Bartman for franchise woes was on full display last night as the strong and vocal knucklehead caucus spent a good chunk of last night's game booing and chanting at Dusty Baker.

While we have great fun mocking some of Dusty's greatest hits around here - and completely believe it was time for him to go in 2006, that does not mean we believe the man should be booed and chanted at three years later. The 2006 and 2009 teams are very different beasts.

As ACB notes, Aramis Ramirez agrees:

Baker was booed every time he went to the mound for a pitching change, but Ramirez thinks it's a bum rap.

"It wasn't his fault. No one could have managed that team we had in '06," Ramirez said of Baker's final season in Chicago. "... You give Dusty this team, I guarantee we're going to play well too."

So, how about you all shut up tonight?
