Phil Rogers Misses Chris Carpenter Badly
Written by wrigleyville
Wednesday, 15 April 2009

Phil Rogers - who is finding new ways to be wrong about absolutely everything - is mourning the loss of Chris Carpenter. And instead of placing the blame where it rightly belongs, he blames the National League:

I know this is the minority opinion but I've said for a long time that both leagues should have the designated hitter rule, and this is a prime example why. Teams invest too heavily in pitchers, who carry so much significance for their teams, to willingly risk that by having them bat or run the bases. It just doesn't make sense.

Using that logic ...

Left fielders shouldn't be allowed to left field, as teams invest too heavily in left fielders, who carry so much sigificance for their teams, to willingly risk that by having them left field. It just doesn't make sense.

Pitchers shouldn't be allowed to cover first base, as teams invest too heavily in pitchers, who carry so much significance for their teams, to willingly risk that by having them cover first base. It just doesn't make sense.

Right fielders shouldn't be allowed to sneeze, as teams invest too heavily in right fielders, who carry so much significance for their teams, to willingly risk that by having them sneeze. It just doesn't make sense.

Catchers shouldn't be allowed to throw, as teams invest too heavily in catchers, who carry so much significance for their teams, to willingly risk that by having them throw. It just doesn't make sense.

Life's hard, Phil. Stop being such a weenie because your BFF - who you maimed - is lost for a few weeks.
