Samardzija To Return; Levine Is Confused

Bruce Levine is a bit all over the place on the Cubs bullpen situation:

Jim Hendry said before today's Cubs game that right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija will be recalled from Class AAA Iowa tomrorow. A corresponding move will be made before Samardzija is activated on the big-league roster.

Hendry said left-hander Neal Cotts will not be going to the minor leagues, and that Sean Marshall will be not be taken out of the rotation. This leaves Hendry only one other option, and that's to trade a relief pitcher.

The most likely candidate to be traded is right-hander Luis Vizcaino, who came from the Rockies in the Jason Marquis trade and appears to be the odd man out. However, he's making a lot of money and it does not appear the team will release him.

It remains to be seen whether a trade will be made, but the worst-case scenario would be to release one of the pitchers in the bullpen.

Levine says the Cubs have "only one other option, and that's to trade a relief pitcher" in the second paragraph. Just two paragraphs later, Levine tells us that "it remains to be seen whether a trade will be made" and that the "worst-case scenario" is just to release somebody.

So my deductive reasoning tells me that there actually is more than "one other option."
