Steve Stone Changes Story On Peavy, Sox

Andy Warren from Cedar Rapids: There was a lot of buzz earlier this season about the Sox making a deal for a big-name starter (Peavy, Oswalt), but things never worked out. Do they still need to add a pitcher to fill in behind Buehrle, Danks, Floyd and Contreras? Or is Clayton Richard good enough to be No. 5?

Stone: I think Kenny would like to add one. Oswalt turned the Sox down even before there was an offer; usually you have to wait for an offer from someone to turn them down though years ago, in my dating life, that wasn't always the case. I didn't share Kenny's enthusiasm with Jake Peavy or the Cubs' fascination with him as they would unload the biggest names in their farm system to get him. I was concerned with him missing seven starts last year and after an ankle injury this year, there is a chance he might be lost for the rest of the season so both Chicago teams are very happy to see him on the Padres payroll and disabled list.
