Kent Sterling Is Charming, But Factually Challenged

In a mess of a post on the Web site of 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis, Kent Sterling calls Milton Bradley an "Ass-Hat" in the headline - and it gets worse from there. He proceeds to call him "nutty," "troubled," "bananas," a "kook," a "wingnut" and "nuts." But he makes up for his name-calling with fact errors, including two in this dandy of a paragraph: All of that aside, he is gone. Hendry made a mistake that was immediately apparent to everyone else in the world, and has nothing to show for the risk than Jamie Silva, a pitcher with a nice sinker and a brittle physique. He has never had a season where he gave up less than a hit per inning, nor come close. On the plus side, Silva has stellar control, and that is much needed on a staff that has trouble finding the strike zone. I can't speak to Jamie Silva's sinker or physique. Carlos Silva, however, is indeed injured and seems to have decent control - allowing batters to pound the crap out of his pitches (he led the American League in homers allowed in 2006). But do the Cubs have "trouble finding the strike zone"? Not really. Last year, they were about league average in walks per nine innings (3.6 for the Cubs; 3.5 league average), but were second in strikeouts per nine innings (7.9) - well above league average (7.1). Someone needs to get Kent Sterling a Google machine.
