Trib Tweets, But Few Follow
Written by wrigleyville

Twitter provides a useful lesson for anyone wondering about the sorry state of the Trib's Cubs coverage. Listed below are various baseball writers for publications around the country (along with some national writers, for the sake of perspective) and the number of people who have chosen to follow them: Paul Sullivan (Trib): 1,555 followers Phil Rogers (Trib): 649 followers Gordon Wittenmyer (Sun-Times): 3,466 followers Tom Haudricort (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel): 2,071 followers Derrick Goold (St. Louis P-D): 4,654 followers Marc Topkin (St Pete Times): 1,295 followers Bernie Miklasz (St. Louis P-D): 7,039 followers Richard Justice (Houston Chronicle): 5,049 followers Ken Rosenthal (Fox): 10,519 followers Buster Olney (ESPN): 15,912 followers Keith Law (ESPN): 248,473 followers So the national baseball writer at the eighth largest newspaper in the country, not to mention the lead beat writer for the third most popular team in baseball, can't combine to come up with half as many followers as Richard Justice? Not to mention they barely match Tom Haudricort. Why might that be? Might people actually see through Sullivan's obsessive harping on the bullies he imagines stole his lunch money? I won't say anything bad about Rogers, as he seems like a nice enough guy, other than to say he's wrong more often than he's right. Then again, Paul Sullivan actively seeks to block people from reading his Tweets of wisdom. So perhaps the Trib is kinda like a country club? Or the Finer Things Club. That said, WV23 only has 290 followers or so. Though, to be fair, we're not paid to watch baseball, talk to baseball people, and provide perspective to the great unwashed masses. We're just here to help Paul Sullivan be a better Paul Sullivan. We are failing.
