Survey: Teams Chasing Cubs "Unimproved"

Here is Jayson Stark's list of top three "unimproved teams" in the National League, based on a survey of his "15 favorite baseball sages" - whatever that means:

     1. Pittsburgh Pirates
     2. St. Louis Cardinals
     3. Milwaukee Brewers

That's a lot of NL Central teams. Good job, guys! You can assume the Pirates will also be in the No. 1 position every year, but you'd think the Cardinals and Brewers would have wanted to be going in the other direction after the last two years.

Also, here are the worst free agent signings, according to the "sages":

     1. Edgar Renteria, Giants (2 years, $18.5 million)
     2. Kyle Farnsworth, Royals (2 years, $9.5 million)
     3. Adam Dunn, Nationals (2 years, $20 million)

Keith Law said the Nationals spent $20 million for a few meaningless wins over two years. Seems about right.
