Blago Heroically Keeps Wrigley From Moving

While Mrs. Governor doesn't seem to care much for the Cubs, Mr. Governor cares so much he fought to keep their home in the state of Illinois.

That's right, Wrigley Field apparently was headed elsewhere without the direct intervention of Rod Blagojevich.

From the Daily Herald:

And so we had to consider the possibility that (impeachment) could happen. And that they would say that this governor goes around the legislature and does too many things to get things done. That Cubs deal was an example, a legal process, but an example of the legislature not willing to do something to keep Wrigley Field in Illinois. So we found a creative way, through the Illinois Finance Authority, to keep the Cubs in a place where it was in their interest and the interest of the people, I thought, where they could stay.

I wonder where Wrigley was going? Maybe Nebraska was offering some nice tax breaks. Free land. Cheap labor.
