Cubs Trade For Heilman

amd_heilman.jpgBruce Levine broke the news that the Cubs traded Ronny Cedeno to the Mariners for longtime Jim Hendry crush Aaron Heilman, followed by Jerry Crasnick breaking our spirits with a report that the deal is Cedeno and Garrett Olson for Heilman.

As with all news Cubs, this led us all to think: My God, what does this mean for Jake Peavy? Have negotiations broken off? Can his hostage takers' demands possibly be met???

For now, the answer feels like "no." We shall hold a wake soon.

With this latest trade, Hendry has turned Cedeno and Felix Pie (both of whom were out of options and had to be moved, after other acquisitions) into Aaron Heilman and Henry Williamson.

Is Heilman alone even better than Olson - let alone Olson and Cedeno? Based on his career, yes: Heilman has three solid years, while Olson has none. Olson is five years younger, but Heilman is from Indiana - which we support.

Anyway, Trader Jim has been a busy, busy boy the last couple of months.
