The Cubs And The Trade Deadline

Stan McNeal - who may or may not know what he's talking about - doesn't expect the Cubs to do anything major at the trade deadline:

Cubs: Can they rescind the DeRosa trade? Take back the Milton Bradley signing? Or the trade for Kevin Gregg? OK, Chicago's offseason moves haven't worked out so well. The Cubs remain the division's strongest club -- on paper. They could be even stronger with an upgrade over Mike Fontenot at second base. Prediction: The unsettled ownership situation will prevent the Cubs from making a blockbuster deal.

I suppose it all depends on how one defines "blockbuster," though what do the Cubs really need at this point - beyond a bullpen arm or two?

It doesn't make gallons of sense to trade for Jake Peavy at this point, though a month or so off would leave him well rested at least. Not sure what second basemen are available. Derrek Lee is going anywhere and even seems to be hitting a little. Aramis Ramirez will come back at some point.
