Aramis Ramirez Is Marmol's Campaign Manager

Doesn't it seem like Aramis Ramirez is more chatty this spring? First he weighed in on the steroid business and then he pondered his baseball mortality.

Now he appears to be lobbying for Carlos Marmol to get the closer job:

"It was tough for him because he was fighting for the closer's job and didn't know what to do," Aramis Ramirez said. "But he decided to go and hopefully what Lou said in the papers is true- that it won't affect his chances of being the closer.

"Hopefully he goes down there, stays healthy and comes back and wins the job., He should be the closer, but who knows? Gregg saved 32 games two years ago and 29 last year. He's got experience, and Marmol hasn't done that. He's got to do it."

I think the first time I ever heard Ramirez talk was after the Cubs clinched the division in 2007. While not Theriotesque in his availability, he certainly seems to have interesting things to say when he does speak.
