The Brewers Are Wildly Popular - In Chicago
Written by wrigleyville

The Milwaukee Business Journal is giddy with excitement about the apparent popularity of the Milwaukee Brewers:

Brewers set single-day ticket sales record

The clamor for Milwaukee Brewers tickets continued over the weekend as the team sold 104,000 tickets on Saturday, setting a franchise record for the number of tickets sold in a single day.

The number of tickets sold on the first day that individual games seats were on sale surpassed the 98,000 bought during last year's first day of ticket sales.

In addition, the team announced that six games were already sold out for individual game tickets. This marks the first time in team history that a regular season game other than opening day has sold out on the first day of availability. The games that are sold out are April 10 and 11 versus the Chicago Cubs, May 8, 9 and 10 versus the Cubs and June 13 versus the Chicago White Sox.

I can't right off find out how many season or mini-plan ticket packages the Brewers have sold. But let's say conservatively that 12,000 seats (out of 43,000) are available for each game.

That would mean that these six games would account for 72,000 of the 104,000 seats sold on this record-breaking Saturday. That's 69 percent.

In other words, Chicago fans continue to boost attendance numbers in Milwaukee. I can't wait to see the Chicago media report about the wild success of the associated Miller Park South initiative.
