Gordon Wittenmyer includes this tidbit in his Cubs notebook:

Fontenot, mired in a 1-for-39 slump, might get a few more days off than the other guys.

''A little mental breather won't do him badly,'' said Piniella, who planned to chat with Fontenot. ''Look, I have confidence that Fontenot will hit. He hit last year. There's no reason to assume that he won't hit when we get him back in there. Look, we need his bat.''

In particular at third base, with Aramis Ramirez out until at least the All-Star break and no third basemen from outside the organization that look headed to the Cubs.

Anybody know what happened to Mark DeRosa?

Yes, he's putting together a sub-average season of .255/.319/.418 for the Indians. Not sure how that would help much at this point.
