Here's Rick Morrissey's Cubs proclamation for 2010:

No matter what else they do in the offseason, nothing will top that. This won't be a matter of addition by subtraction. This will be multiplication by subtraction.

The Bradley-free Cubs are going be a lot better next year. They will be what they were supposed to be this year: a playoff team.

The Cubs very well may be a playoff team in 2010. But it won't be because Milton Bradley is not on the team. In fact, the following factors may also have something to do with it:

1. Alfonso Soriano is healthy and reverts back to 2007-08 Alfonso Soriano.

2. Aramis Ramirez doesn't separate his shoulder and miss months of the season.

3. Geovany Soto plays more like the 2008 Rookie of the Year.

4. The Cubs find some production at second base.

5. The back end of the bullpen doesn't blow leads.

And eleventy dozen other things that could go wrong or right over the course of the baseball season. But to say that removing a player with  .378 OBP from the lineup will by itself make the Cubs a playoff team is, well, dumb.
