The moment of truth occurred after Geovany Soto knocked in a run with a two-out single to the left field wall that gave the Cubs a brief 2-1 lead. But left-fielder Ryan Braun rifled a throw into second, nailing the slow-footed Soto for the final out and stranding Zambrano in the on-deck circle.

Zambrano yanked off his batting helmet and slammed it to the ground as he stalked into the dugout.
