Mark Cuban suggested today that the Ricketts family paid too much for the Cubs:
"There's the coolness of owning it and then there is the reality of dealing with your bank," Cuban said Wednesday on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "From a coolness factor and a fun factor, it would have been amazing, but from a financial factor it would have been challenging."
Cuban was one of several bidders for the Cubs, who were eventually sold to Tom Ricketts and his family in October. Cuban said he was surprised at the steep price tag the Ricketts family reportedly paid for the Cubs.
"I'm surprised they didn't negotiate it down some given that right as the process was going on the whole economy basically collapsed," Cuban said. "From my end it's one of those deals that I'm glad didn't close for me."
Cuban was this site's preferred owner, as he would have made life more interesting. The Ricketts seem kind of boring, in a Nebraska sort of way.
