Team USA World Baseball Classic

According to Sun-Times headlines, White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy has a problem with the Cubs:

White Sox ace Jake Peavy: 'I don't like the Cubs'

If I recall correctly this was the very same man who actually wanted to be a Cubs player before the 2009 season.

"I made it very clear that I had the ball in my court for quite a while and that I wanted to go to Chicago. I gave the Padres knowledge of that and the Cubs knowledge of that. We did everything we could to work it out. Obviously, the [Cubs'] ownership thing got in the way, but I believe everything happens for a reason."

Apparently, Jake did want to be a part of the Cubs at one point, maybe he has hard feelings because it didn't work out.

"I don't think it's anyone's fault; it just wasn't meant to be."

As it turns out, Jake doesn't place any blame on the Cubs, the deal just didn't work out.  So why doesn't he "like the Cubs?"

"No, I don't like the Cubs. I don't like the Minnesota Twins. Great guys, but I don't like anybody we're going to play."

Finally, we've gotten to the bottom of his Cubs resentment, he doesn't like any team except for the one that pays him.  When asked by Sox beat reporter, Joe Cowley, if he "likes" the Cubs, he said, "no." That obviously makes Peavy a hater of everything and anything related to the Cubs.

"No bad blood with me, but I'm sure [Cubs] fans will get a hold of that and let me know. That's fine. It will just make the rivalry a little better."

It remains to be seen if Cubs fans will take the bait from Cowley and make Peavy their sworn enemy.
