If Pie isn't panning out by midsummer (which means it's unlikely he ever will) and Cubs put some distanced between themselves and Reds....wouldn't be a bad thing to snag Junior off the Reds for the stretch run. Heck, maybe see if they'll take Murton instead; problem is Dusty knows him too well. Especially fact he can't run without falling down.

I'm hopeful just as any Cubs fan -- but this isn't a "great" team we're putting on the field. It's certainly not a team that has any room for error -- pitching, defense or hitting.

We're clearly going to need a magical year -- and a helluva midseason trade to get to the World Series and end the streak. And I'm not sold on Brian Roberts being that midseason trade -- agree with A-Ram on DeRosa. Not flashy but he gets job done.

A 'roidsless Roberts worries me. Your kids are all taller than him. And I'm not exaggerating.

I agree with WV. No consideration whatsoever should be given to the weather when making the schedule. If you put the northern teams on the road in April they have more home games in September, which would obviously be nice, but just let the computers spit out the schedule. If it rains, it rains. That's why they off days throughout the season.

I'm pretty happy the Cubs begin at Wrigley because they have no excuse to not get off to a good start. I'm in favor of anything that reduces the number of possibilities one can use to make excuses for this team.
